Whereas wee are informed that one John Jaquenot or Jackson, ecuier, sieur des Auches, originally of Four, kingdom of England, has served in the troopes of the most Christian King severall yeares, first in the horse guards and after as captain of frotte, haveing uppon all occasions behaved himself as a gentleman and good officer as appears by the certificats of his superiour officers which have beene produced to us and whereas wee are allwayes willing to encourage vertue and honour in all persons and particularly in those who being descended of gentlemen doe nothing to derogate from theire extraction, uppon humble application made to us by the foresaid John Jackson, sieur des Auches, desireing that he may be authorized to beare the arms of the family of Jackson of Hickleton in Yorkshire, baronet, whereof he pretends to be a cadet, wee doe therefore hereby authorize you, our herald at armes, to examin his pretentions to the said arms and according, as it shall appeare to you that he is descended of the said family, to grant him the arms thereof with the distinctions that are proper and what other authentick certificat belongs to your charge to give and is usuall in such cases to intille him to beare the said arms with the distinctions a foresaid, and for soe doeing this shall be your warrant. Given at our courte at Saint Germains this twelfth day of may 1694 and in the tenth year of our reigne.
